Join a clean up with other volunteers

We love the Coromandel and will be amongst volunteers this week to join in the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week of clean-up activities.

If you would like to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into Keep New Zealand Beautiful week with us on the Coromandel then visit the KNZB website here to see what clean-ups are happening in your area.

Organisations including TCDC, Destination Coromandel and our information centres are among those who registered with KNZB to host a clean-up session.

We’re working with our contractors Smart Environmental to accept the collected rubbish for free at our Refuse Transfer Stations. Keep New Zealand Beautiful has sent out collection bags for both rubbish and recyclables which means we can do more than just collect the litter from our beaches and reserves – we can recycle it!

There are clean ups organised for Pauanui Beach, Tairua Beach, Buffalo Beach and Estuary Whitianga and Thames. Details are online at www.knzb.org.nz

Join our great volunteers at:

Thornton Bay: Start 1.00pm Thursday 20 September opp Adams Rd on the Thornton Bay foreshore.

Whitianga: Start 9.30am til noon Saturday 22 September. Meet at the Whitianga Wharf, Esplanade Whitianga.

Pauanui: Start 11.00am til 12.30pm Saturday 22 September. Meet at South End of Pauanui Beach.

Tairua: Start 10.00am til noon Saturday 22 September. Meet at North End Car Park, Tairua Beach.

Rabobank Thames is organising its own clean up of the Thames Coastal Walkway on Wednesday afternoon and will assemble at Kuranui Bay.

Anyone wanting bags or gloves to do their own clean up can pop into TCDC offices in Thames. Only official Keep New Zealand Beautiful week bags (or official TCDC blue bags) will be accepted free of charge at all our refuse transfer stations.
